Psychoactive is looking for a unique and talented amphibian to join our team as a Web Developer. In your day to day you’ll be in charge of both Webflow and custom code development. You’ll be excited about the opportunity of working with a wide range of development languages and frameworks such as React, Vue, and WebGL.
You’ll love solving complex problems, creating beautiful web animations and interactions, and have great communication skills for advising the Psychoactive team and clients on technical solutions. A technical artist at heart, you’ll also have a keen eye for art and design, getting involved in all the finer details. You’ll enjoy the opportunity of overseeing the entire production pipeline, helping to advise the rest of the team in the strategy and design phases.
Your background could be in web design / development, creative coding, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or even music.
This position has many facets, but at its core is the ability to solve complex problems in a team environment. The developer is one of the masterminds behind all our creations and is a highly respected contributing member of the Psychoactive team.

On approval, you’ll meet with our Managing Director to discuss your intentions for the internship in more detail and together begin to formulate a plan.
You’ll then be tasked with creating a proposal that outlines the project background, challenge, general objective, and timelines.
Your project should align with both Psychoactive’s vision and your personal interests, challenging you to create a magnum opus that we can all celebrate and benefit from together.

You’ll be assigned a mentor(s) who’ll guide you through our production process, paddling with you every stroke of the way. But, please bear in mind that we won’t be tadpole-sitting you. It will be your sole responsibility to work independently and ensure that you complete the project on time and to our expectations.
Throughout this project you’ll treat Psychoactive as your client. This is a great opportunity for you to experience the client setting without the risk or pressure of a real life client relationship.

Hiring after the internship is not guaranteed and is based on your performance, cultural fit, ability to catch flies, and Psychoactive’s availability.
Our client’s success starts with your own. Here are just some of the things you’ll get from working with us.
The 3 month internship will take you through Psychoactive’s entire production process from project pitch, strategy, design, development, and deployment.
All of our internships are run with a similar structure, but with a specific focus on the area of expertise that you want to grow your weird little limbs into. For example, a production internship may be focused on written communication, design on UI and UX, and development on complex Webflow and WebGL integrations.
Throughout the internship you’ll document your project process through Slack. This will prepare you with the necessary literacy skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external project stakeholders.
All good web projects are built from strong strategic and brand foundations. You’ll start your internship with discovery sessions, obtaining the information required to produce a brand strategy, brand guidelines, brand collateral, brand logo, website wireframes and even your own website content.
Moving into the design phase, you’ll begin transforming your brand & web strategy into beautiful, highly considered web designs. Colours, imagery, and graphical elements are used to bring your project to life. As a design, experience and interaction focused agency, we’ll expect you to have a keen eye for detail.
Although our studio specialises in both Webflow and custom code development, most interns will develop using Webflow, helping to reinforce HTML, CSS, and Javascript principles. Within Webflow there are endless possibilities to explore animation and interactions.
Whatever position you're applying for, a portfolio of your work will help greatly. Best designs are shown, not told.If you think you have something to contribute to our studio, we encourage you to get in touch with us. Our search for new team members is about finding the right fit, not a paper perfect candidate.
