Across New Zealand, there are over 20,000 students enrolled in Te Reo immersion programs. As part of an ongoing effort to promote and develop these programs, the Ministry of Education funded the creation of Raukupu, a digital learning resource. Built using React and Kirby CMS, the platform features a custom-built, automated text-to-audio narration for the Te Reo language. A series of beautiful illustrations, created by local New Zealand artists, adorn the website, helping to narrate the stories of the many Maori novels housed within the platform.
Raukupu has not only helped in revolutionising the digitalisation of Te Reo education for Maori students but has also fostered a deeper cultural connection, strengthening the fabric of New Zealand's national identity.
