Things Inc

Software We Wish We Had as Kids
  • WHAT WE DID: Strategy, Design, Development
  • CLIENT: Things Inc

Things Inc is a creative studio that builds playful, experimental software for collaborative creation and emergent play. Self-described as a team of evolved monkeys who believe weird is better than normal, they create digital experiences that prioritize imagination, discovery, and human connection over conventional app design patterns. Their flagship product, Rooms, is a 3D interactive platform that has captured the attention of Apple, creators, and a rapidly growing community.

Psychoactive partnered with Things Inc to strategise, design, and develop a Webflow website that embodies their creative philosophy while showcasing their products and community. The result is an experience that functions as much as a digital playground as it does a company website, featuring custom interactions, hidden surprises, and a distinctive visual identity.

Here's the Thing

Things Inc needed a digital presence to authentically represent a company built on playfulness and rejecting convention. The challenge was creating a site that feels genuinely fun without becoming gimmicky. We treated the website as a product experience, designing interactions that reward curiosity.

Putting Creative Before Everything Else

Things Inc's brand voice is committed to creative expression. We designed a visual system centered on voxel-style 3D assets, expressive typography, and bold color transitions native to the Things universe.

Functionality That Feels Fun

We designed micro-interactions that float and transform as users scroll, navigation that feels like exploring a game interface, and transitions that maintain momentum.

Playing Night and Day

The dark/light mode toggle transforms the entire visual identity - from warm daylight palettes with bright skies to moody nighttime environments with stars.

Hide and Seek

The scavenger hunt transforms passive visitors into active participants. Six hidden objects scattered throughout the site unlock a reward when found. This encourages exploration, creates memorable interactions, and reinforces Things Inc's philosophy that digital experiences should feel like play.

In the Room

Rooms is a 3D interactive platform where users create and share miniature digital worlds. The app earned Apple's Design Award in 2024, was featured as App of the Day in 100+ countries, and attracted 250,000+ users. We showcased these achievements while highlighting what makes the product special: accessibility, creative depth, and community.

Log 001

The Log Book functions as a developer changelog or creative journal rather than corporate marketing. We structured it for technical deep-dives and community features while maintaining playful visual identity.

All the Assets

Things Inc's products generate extraordinary volumes of creative 3D assets. We showcased existing assets throughout - from voxel-style objects to hexagonal room previews.
